The Society’s Inspiration

Padma Bhushan Dr. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil (Anna)

Legendary Social Reformer & Pioneer of Mass Education

Inspired by the visionary thoughts and ideals of the great social reformer, pioneer of education and Padma Bhushan awardee Dr. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil (Anna), Vatvruksha Credit Co-operative Society Ltd., Dudhgaon, has set its course with the objective of empowering ordinary citizens financially, strengthening the spirit of co-operation and contributing to the overall development of society.

Karmaveer Anna created opportunities for progress for all sections of society through education. Following his ideals, the Society aims to strengthen the co-operative movement based on the values of financial self-reliance, social equality, integrity and collective progress.

The Society’s journey shall be guided by five core values: Trust, Transparency, Co-operation, Prosperity and Social Commitment. The leadership of the Board of Directors, the guidance of the Advisory Committee, the contribution of employees and the active participation of members shall all play an important role in this journey.

Five Foundational Pillars

The Society’s 5 Core Values and Working Principles

Upholding honesty in every transaction and community commitment to drive the holistic development of Dudhgaon and surrounding regions.

1

1. Trust — The Strong Foundation of Relationships

Trust is the foundation of every co-operative institution. When the relationship of trust between members and the Society is strong, the Society’s progress can be sustained over the long term.

  • Give the financial interests of members the highest priority.
  • Treat every member with honesty, respect and responsibility.
  • Provide accurate and clear information regarding deposits, loan transactions and financial services.
  • Understand members’ problems, questions and complaints and work towards their appropriate resolution.

2. Transparency — Integrity in Every Transaction

Transparency is the key to good governance and credibility. All financial transactions, administrative decisions and operations of the Society must be clear, rule-based and accountable.

  • Clearly communicate deposit interest rates, loan interest rates, fees and other applicable terms to members.
  • Maintain accurate, systematic and up-to-date financial transactions and accounting records.
  • Conduct regular audits and financial reviews in accordance with applicable rules.
  • Maintain transparency, compliance and accountability in the decision-making process of the Board of Directors.
  • Appropriately consider and utilise the guidance of the Advisory Committee in the interests of the Society.
  • Provide members with appropriate information about the Society’s operations and their individual financial transactions.
  • Develop effective internal control mechanisms to prevent irregularities and misuse.
Our Commitment: To maintain clarity in every transaction, integrity in every decision and accountability in every action.

3. Co-operation — The Strength of Collective Progress

Co-operation means supporting one another to achieve collective progress. The Society shall build strong relationships with its members through mutual assistance, participation and shared responsibility.

  • Encourage a culture of savings, financial discipline and mutual co-operation among members.
  • Provide appropriate financial facilities based on members’ eligibility and repayment capacity.
  • Encourage small entrepreneurs, farmers, small business owners and aspiring self-employed individuals to pursue growth and progress.
  • Increase members’ active participation in the development of the Society.
  • Build an environment of co-ordination and co-operation among the Board of Directors, Advisory Committee, employees and members.
  • Ensure leadership by the Board of Directors and guidance from the Advisory Committee, drawing upon its experience and knowledge, to achieve the Society’s objectives.
  • Bring together different sections of society through co-operation and promote collective development.
Our Commitment: To achieve financial progress through mutual support and create collective strength through the spirit of co-operation.

4. Prosperity — The Goal of Everyone’s Financial Advancement

The prosperity of the Society is not limited to financial profits alone. It is the combined outcome of members’ financial progress, the Society’s stability and the development of the wider community.

  • Encourage regular savings and awareness of sound financial planning among members.
  • Help members meet their financial needs through responsible lending.
  • Create opportunities for financial advancement through business, self-employment and entrepreneurship.
  • Strengthen the Society’s financial position and prioritise long-term development.
  • Manage financial risks effectively and strengthen deposit management and loan recovery.

  • Strive to achieve the growth of the Society and the prosperity of society alongside the progress of its members.
Our Commitment: To achieve the Society’s progress through the advancement of every member and contribute to society’s prosperity through the Society’s growth.
5

5. Social Commitment — Responsibility Towards Community Development

A co-operative institution is not merely an organisation engaged in financial transactions; it is also an important instrument for contributing to social progress. Inspired by Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil (Anna) and his ideals of social equality, the spread of education and social upliftment, the Society shall uphold its social responsibilities.

  • Contribute, to the extent possible, towards the educational progress of deserving and underprivileged students.
  • Promote financial literacy and awareness about the importance of savings and protection against financial fraud.
  • Encourage women, youth, small entrepreneurs and economically weaker sections to become self-reliant.
  • Undertake initiatives in education, healthcare, environmental conservation and social awareness.
  • Recognise meritorious students and individuals who have made notable contributions to the welfare of society.
  • Promote the values of social equality, fraternity, co-operation and humanity.
  • Encourage community-oriented initiatives through the collective participation of the Board of Directors, Advisory Committee, employees and members.
Our Commitment: To contribute towards building a capable, cultured and self-reliant society while upholding social responsibility alongside financial progress.

Conclusion — An Institution That Provides Support Like a Banyan Tree

The banyan tree symbolises stability, support, shelter and expansion. Inspired by these qualities, Vatvruksha Credit Co-operative Society Ltd., Dudhgaon, aspires to develop into an institution that provides financial support to its members, nurtures relationships built on trust and works towards the progress of society.

One of the most remarkable features of a banyan tree offers an important lesson for life. As the tree reaches towards the sky, aerial roots emerge from its branches and grow downwards towards the earth. Once they take root, they become firm supports and, over time, strengthen the very tree from which they originated.

The Society’s journey should follow this very principle. As the institution reaches new heights of progress, the benefits of its growth should reach its members. In turn, these empowered members should strengthen the institution through their participation, trust and co-operation. The relationship between the Society and its members should be one of mutual support, trust and collective advancement.

In this journey, the Board of Directors shall provide leadership and discharge its decision-making responsibilities in accordance with the Society’s rules. The Advisory Committee shall offer guidance based on its experience and knowledge, employees shall deliver efficient services, and members shall contribute actively to the Society’s progress.

“Relationships through Trust, Credibility through Transparency, Progress through Co-operation, Advancement through Prosperity, and Community Development through Social Commitment!”

This is the inspiration, the guiding philosophy and the path towards a bright future for Vatvruksha Credit Co-operative Society Ltd., Dudhgaon.
